Overview of Vietnam textile industry

Vietnam textile industry includes about 2500 businesses, 1.1 million labors, in which concentrates 60%  in Ho Chi Minh city y neighbouring provinces, 30% in Ha Noi, and 10% in central provinces.

Production capacity:

- Cotton: 10.000 tons/year

- Spinning: 180.000 tons/year

- Weaving: 800 mil.m2/year

- Kniting: 150.000 tons/year

- Garment: 2.3 million products/year

Main products:

- Knitting products, T-shirt, polo shirt, sports suits, underclothes

- Shirts, trousers, skirts, children´s clothes

- Jackets, overcoats

- Towel, cotton yard,

Export turnover:  9.12 billion USD (2008), in which exports to U.S., EU, Japan account for 56%, 20%, 10% respectively, following Taiwan, Canada, Korea, Mexico,etc. In the first 9 months of 2009, export turnover records 6.69 billion USD, and expected to get 9.1- 9.2 million USD by the end of the year.
